First Grade: Animals in Art 
Tuesdays and Wednesdays

In the Animals in Art tour, students will examine the ways in which artists depict animals and their environments. The characteristics of animals will be explored through a discussion of shape, size, texture, pattern, and detail. The works of art to be explored include a Greek vase and a nineteenth-century painting of a hummingbird. A mask-making activity and garden scavenger hunt are part of this visit. This tour supports standards in the visual arts, social studies, and science.
