Second Grade: Types of Paintings
Tuesdays and Thursdays
The subjects of paintings may be grouped into categories that include still life, interior, landscape, and cityscape. Through direct observation and discussion of works ranging from a sumptuous tabletop still life to the painted skyline of Brooklyn, students will learn the classifications of works of art. A visit to the Gardens and a collage activity in the art studio are included. This tour supports standards in the visual arts and social studies.
