The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is Offering Free Admission to Military Personnel and Their Families This Summer

The Cummer is one of more than 1,800 museums across America to offer free admission to military personnel and their families this summer in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense

Jacksonville, Fla. - The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is proud to announce their involvement with Blue Star Museums, a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and more than 1,800 museums across America to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families starting Memorial Day weekend on Saturday, May 25, 2013 through Labor Day weekend on September 1, 2013.  The Cummer will also extend this free admission to include retired military families as well. Valid military identification is required for FREE entry and will include full access to the Museum and Gardens, as well as the special exhibitions.

“Our involvement with Blue Star Museums along with free admission to The Cummer from Memorial Day to Labor Day is a way in which we can show support and appreciation for the men and women in our armed forces,” said Cummer Director Hope McMath. “We want to show our gratitude to those who have served and currently are serving our country by opening our doors to our military and their families.”

Blue Star Families is a national, nonprofit network of military families from all ranks and services, including guard and reserve, dedicated to supporting, connecting and empowering military families. This year, more than 1,800 museums in all 50 states, the District of Colombia, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa are taking part in the initiative, including more than 450 new museums this year. This will be the fourth year that the Blue Star Families will be sponsoring the Blue Star Museums program in which all participating museums will offer FREE admission to military personnel.
