Start with the Arts

Childhood Picture 1

The National VSA curriculum for Early Childhood, Start with the Arts is a developmental approach to instruction with an emphasis on experience-based learning that brings meaningful learning opportunities to young children, both with and without disabilities. The program provides learning experiences in which art, literacy, creative play, sharing and parental involvement are fully integrated. The curriculum promotes the development of language, inquiry and motor skills for all students through a combination of hands-on art activities, music, drama, dance, literature and the viewing of original works of art in the galleries.
