Distance Learning at The Cummer

Art Connections offers in-service opportunities for teachers and special audiences. These free continuing education programs are designed to provide educators with meaningful ways to infuse art in the curriculum. So, whether you are an art teacher, a high school subject area teacher, an elementary classroom teacher, or an ESE teacher, there is an in-service opportunity for you.

Can't make the trip to the museum? We can bring an in-service to you … virtually! The Cummer has partnered with The Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership to bring in-services to you free of charge! Through two-way video conferencing technology, teachers in Duval, Clay and surrounding counties can attend in-service presentations at their local distance-learning center. Art supplies and course materials are distributed to each center and teachers can participate in art-making activities, listen to speaker presentations and interact and ask questions of Cummer Education staff.

Call Art Connections at 355-0630 or the Schultz Center at 348-5757 to register to attend an in-service at The Cummer or at a distance learning center.

The villas were first discovered in the 1740s, but were reburied and lost again for two centuries before being rediscovered in the 1950s. These largely unknown villas and their lost and found story will be the focus of lessons that explore the fascinating worlds of art, archaeology and ancient history.
