Docents
Art Connections, the Education Department of The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, offers many volunteer opportunities.
The mainstay of the volunteer programming is the Docent Corps. Docents are dedicated museum volunteers who lead tours of the permanent collection/visiting exhibitions for school-aged children or adults. Docents are required to complete training sessions with museum staff in order to learn both school tours and the history of the permanent collection. Once training is completed, docents make a weekly commitment of their time to staff the tour schedule.
In addition to the Docent Corps, there are volunteer opportunities to assist with the many special events designed and implemented by the Education Department. These shorter-term assignments include assisting with summer art camps and staffing the VSA arts three-day festival for students with disabilities.
If you are interested in being a member of the Docent Corps or other volunteer opportunities in Art Connections, please contact Susan Gallo at (904) 356-6857 x 6006.
