Education Education: Tours

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens offers a wide variety of programs for students and their teachers. The museum's educational tours allow for first-hand examination of original works of art from Ancient Egyptian sculpture through American twentieth-century painting. Trained docents engage students in meaningful discussions of the social, historic, and artistic context of works of art. Complementing the gallery visit, each tour includes time in the museum's beautiful gardens as well as hands-on exploration with studio art projects and activities in Art Connections, the museum's interactive center.

Tours are based on an integrated curriculum that supports state standards in the visual arts, math, science, language arts, and social studies. Sequential development of materials is offered for pre-kindergarten through grade 12. Each grade level tour is organized with a different emphasis so students may visit year after year.
