Job Description:
Volunteers in this position seek to create an excellent visitor experience by providing outstanding customer service to the Cummer visitor through information sharing about all aspects of the museum. Volunteer candidates should be outgoing, dependable, articulate, and think quickly on their feet. Customer service experience is preferred minimum age of 18 years of age. Knowledge about the museum collection, exhibitions and programming is a plus.
The Front Desk (Associate)
Volunteers welcome all visitors in an engaging manner. They assist in answering the main switchboard, stocking visitor collateral materials, maintaining cleanliness of the lobby, and assisting with oversize parcel storage. Volunteers also use clicker to capture visitor counts during free events including free Tuesdays and may need to greet visitors by opening the front doors during high visitation periods. The following times are needed:
Survey
Survey volunteers are the backbone of the Museum’s visitor research efforts. They help the Museum gather visitor feedback by conducting surveys and interviews. Survey volunteers should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with Museum visitors successfully. The following times are needed:
The Cummer Store (Store Associate)
Volunteers welcome all visitors in an engaging manner. They assist visitors with their store selections and with bagging / wrapping of their purchases. They replenish floor stock and maintain clean displays including glass shelves. Volunteers assist in answering the main switchboard and assist staff as needed. The following times are needed:
This is a behind the scenes position that includes the unpacking, checking-in, labeling and preparation of new store merchandise for the selling floor. Volunteers help maintain orderliness of the stockroom. They help replenish wrapping supplies and will prepare visitors’ purchases for UPS pickup. Volunteers also assist staff in duties as needed. The following times are needed:

This is a behind the scenes position that includes filing of catalogues, office papers and merchandise orders. Volunteers make phone calls to vendors and assist staff in duties as needed. The following times are needed:
