Internship
Curatorial Intern
Curatorial interns will gain a wide range of curatorial knowledge, including: object handling, object research, audio guide development, database administration, cataloguing procedures, label writing, gallery installation, and general department administration.
The internship program is based on the following criteria and standards:
- Two internships are available for the Fall and Spring terms.
- Applicants should be in their Junior or Senior year of college.
- Applicants should have taken multiple Art History classes and be interested in museum or gallery work as a career or contemplating graduate work in the field.
- Interns must be available to work a minimum of two 4-hour shifts during the academic year. Summer internships will require a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Curatorial internships are unpaid. We are happy to help students receive credit for their internships.
Interested students should send in writing to the Intern Supervisor:
- A resumé including a list of Art History courses taken.
- Full contact information including phone, e-mail, and permanent address.
- A cover letter expressing their areas of interest and career goals.
- Submissions may be mailed, faxed, or e-mailed.
- Students from the University of North Florida are required to obtain a recommendation from Dr. Debra Murphy, Chair, Department of Art and Design. This recommendation may be mailed, faxed, or emailed to the Intern Supervisor under separate cover, or can be made by telephone.
Materials should be received no later than July 15 for Fall semester work, November 26 for Spring semester work and March 23 for Summer work. Students may be called for an interview.
